Here are a few frequently asked questions from our parents/students.

How can I find the right tutor for me?

We make it simple to find the right tutor for your child. Just share your child’s needs with us, and we’ll match you with a tutor who can provide the support and guidance they need to thrive. We’re here to ensure your child’s success, giving you peace of mind every step of the way.

Simply WhatsApp Us directly to request for home tutor.

How will the right tutor be assigned to my child?

After you’ve made a request, our experienced tuition coordinators will take the time to understand your child’s needs and preferences. They’ll carefully select the most suitable tutor from our database and send you a list of personalised recommendations via WhatsApp.

Your satisfaction and comfort with the selected tutor are our top priorities, so if something doesn’t feel right, we’re happy to find a better match. Our team will make sure that all details, including lesson plans and pricing, are clearly agreed upon before moving forward.

Once you’ve found a tutor who feels like the right fit, we’ll send you a confirmation email with all the necessary information. Then, you can look forward to your child’s first lesson, knowing they’re in good hands and ready to succeed!

How can I verify my tutor’s qualifications?

To ensure transparency, you may request the tutors to bring the physical copies to the first lesson for you to review. Due to privacy regulations, we don’t distribute digital copies directly to clients.

If you notice any discrepancies, please contact us right away. We take any instance of fraudulent information very seriously and will immediately blacklist any tutor found to be misrepresenting their qualifications. While we strive to verify all details, please note that we rely on the accuracy of the information provided by the tutors themselves. Your vigilance helps us maintain the highest standards.

What types of tutors are available, and how do they differ?

At TopTutors.sg, we offer three main types of tutors, each with their own unique qualifications and rates:

  1. Part-Time Tutors: These tutors are currently pursuing their degrees or diplomas, A-level graduates typically tutor part-time. They are often the most budget-friendly option. However, their availability might be limited, and they may not be able to commit to long-term tutoring arrangements.
  2. Full-Time Tutors: These tutors have completed their degrees and often tutor full-time, either independently or with other educational institutions. They bring more experience to the table, but their rates and qualifications can vary significantly from one tutor to another.
  3. MOE-Trained/Current School Teachers: These tutors have official teaching experience in government or international schools. They generally charge higher rates but offer the most comprehensive resources and are well-versed in the latest syllabus and teaching methods.

It’s important to note that our platform doesn’t set the rates for each tutor. Tutors determine their own fees based on their qualifications, experience, and the location of the tutoring sessions. However, we strive to match you with tutors whose rates match with your budget.

Are there any tutor matching fees I need to pay?

As a parent or tutee, you benefit from our service completely free of charge—there are no matching fees or commissions to worry about. The tutors we match with you are the ones who pay a commission. This commission (40%) equals the tuition fees for the 1 month (or the equivalent number of lessons within that period), which we collect on behalf of the tutor.

After that, you’ll pay the tutor directly for the remaining lessons. Our tuition coordinators will provide you with the complete payment details and instructions once your lessons are confirmed.

Do I need to make any advance payments?

No, there’s no need to make any advance payments. All payments are made only after the scheduled lessons have been completed.

Absolutely! In fact, we highly encourage trial lessons so you can assess whether the tutor is a good fit for your child’s learning needs. These trial lessons are billed on a per-lesson basis.

What if the tutor isn’t the right fit—can I end the lessons?

Absolutely! If you find that the tutor isn’t the right match after the first lesson, you’re free to end the tutoring sessions. Just be sure to let us know at least 24 hours before the next scheduled lesson.

We are also happy to arrange an immediate change of tutor for you at no additional cost.

Do note that the lessons conducted with the previous tutor will still be chargeable.

Can I postpone the scheduled lessons?

Absolutely! We understand that life can be unpredictable, so you’re welcome to reschedule lessons. Just be sure to notify both the tutor and our agency at least 24 hours in advance for the first lesson. For all future lessons, you can coordinate directly with your tutor.

To respect your tutor’s time, we ask that any changes are communicated early. If a lesson is rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice, a small fee of 50% of the lesson cost may apply to cover the tutor’s blocked time.

We want to make sure you feel comfortable with your commitment. However, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice before the next lesson to avoid a late cancellation fee of 50% of one lesson.

Can my tutor terminate before completing the agreed number of lessons?

Tutors are expected to commit to at least four weeks of tuition. If a tutor decides to withdraw from the assignment without a valid reason (such as illness) before completing the four weeks, they will forfeit their right to any tuition fees. In this case, you would only need to pay 50% of the tuition fees directly to our agency.
